Birthday hair!

I am trying out a look for my birthday with my Chi InfraTech 1 1/4" curling iron. I pinned each curl with a Bobby pin after they came out of the curling iron and I love the results! Ive never been a fan of the super curly look so this volumized wavy look works out perfect for me! I'll just add some clip-in extensions for extra length and this is how I will wear my hair for my birthday celebration! The best part is that it only took me 30 minutes!!!

Obsession: shoe stretcher!

I have bought a lot of shoes over the years. For some reason, i can always rationalize another pair. However, the size of my foot is always changing slightly depending on the weather and how much walking I've done the day I buy the shoes. These particular shoes are from Steve madden and they are a size 5.5. At the store, I tried on both a size 6 and the 5.5 and the size 6 was too big- I could feel them sliding off as I walked around the store. I decide on the 5.5. Here is where the mystery comes into play. While in the store, I was able to get the 5.5 on and walk around comfortably. Now, I can't get my feet in them! I have no idea what has changed! They are a gorgeous violet- blue color, not to mention they were $90 so I'd rather not just give them away.

Enter: shoe stretcher. I bought it at a shoe repair store. It wa $30, but you can buy a pair on amazon for $35.00. They come in sizes so make sure you find re correct size for your shoes. Basically, it is two wood pieces shaped sort of like a foot with a long metal bar down the middle. To use, you place it in the shoe you'd like to stretch, and then twist the metal bar which will expand the two wood pieces. This process will help to stretch the shoe out. I am going to try it on my gorgeous violet Steve madden heels. Hopefully it works!

Does anyone have any idea why sometimes shoes fit my feet and sometimes they don't?? Any suggestions are helpful!!!

Update: after letting the shoe sit in the stretcher for about 3 hours, it fits! It needs a little more stretching to be comfy, but I'm so happy I can actually get the awesome shoes on my feet!

I have spent all day trying to figure out why iMovie wasn't allowing me to upload to YouTube and I finally have it all figured out! I have three product review videos that will be uploaded today. The videos are on Revitalash, Loreal infallible long wear lipsticks, and Maybelline "The Falsies" mascara. Plus, the video on the mascara has a little snippet of my makeup collection. Let me know if you guys would be interested in seeing an entire video on how I keep my makeup!

Fixing a broken eyeshadow

We've all done it- broken an eyeshadow. But don't throw it out! You can fix it!

I have tried this method with several mac eyeshadows (basic round pans) after one of my palattes fell :(

You'll need: wax paper and and a quarter (or something roughly the same size and shape as your broken eyeshadow).

First, try to assemble the pieces as best you can puzzle-style. Remember to be gentle- eyeshadow is basically just colored powder. This doesn't have to be perfect, just try to make sure you don't have any pieces hanging over the edge of the silver pan.

Next, place a piece of wax paper over the eyeshadow. Make sure the piece of wax paper is big enough to cover the entire eyeshadow and overlap the edges just slightly.

Then, place a quarter ontop of the wax paper and PUSH! That's it! You should try moving the quarter around just slightly and then repressing to ensure the eyeshadow is solid all over.

Your eyeshadow won't be 100%, but it'll be about 80% and that's better then throwing it out! Remember to be careful as you use it and don't push your brush in so hard. Just be conscious of the fact that it used to be broken :)

Brush cleaning tip

Since I have invested so much money into buying mac brushes, I like to use the mac brush cleaner on them. I do this because I feel like the mac brush cleaner is specially formulated for mac brushes and it is a professional makeup line- I'm sure they know what they're doing. However, with as expensive as the mac brush cleaner is and as often as I need to clean my brushes, this becomes quite a costly practice.

I have found a way to save money by using less brush cleaner. I start off washing my powder, foundation and blush brushes. These brushes are the biggest and therefore require the most brush cleaning solution. They also tnx to have the least amount of product on them. I thoroughly clean each of the bigger brushes first on the same towel. Then, I begin cleaning my smaller eye brushes that usually have darker stains from eyeshadow and eyeliner. I just brush them over the same spot on the towel that I used to clean my face brushes. I continue to do this until there is no longer a clean spot on the towel that contains the excess brush cleaner. If possible, I flip the towel over and use the other side (most often, the excess brush cleaner from the face brushes has soaked through to the other side as well).

By using this method of cleaning my eye brushes on the same area as I have blotted the excess brush cleaning solution from my face brushes, I save time and money by conserving my brush cleaner.

I will be making a video very soon to show this process in action- once my brushes are dirty again!

Nail experiment

I just tried a nail tutorial that is a toned down version of one I saw on YouTube. I covered my ring finger nails in tiny gem stones (instead of every nail like the tutorial showed) and I love it! I may attempt to do every nail like this for a special ocassion, like maybe my next birthday!

This us a simple way to add a little glamour to your every day life! I love it!

Product rave video posted!

Finally was able to post the first video in a series of product review about some of my favorite products and also some wasted purchases. I never remember it taking this long to upload to YouTube!

If I could figure out where the projects I've edited in iMovie save to, it would make the process much faster. But for right now, I just want to get some videos up!

The video that was just posted was a total, shameless rave about mac's feline eyeliner. It's a great eyeliner. Check out the video for more detailed information!

New videos!

Today I sat down and recorded about 10 videos so that I can get the ball rolling! I don't always have time to sit down and record, so when ever I can get in some video making time, it's always great. I am going to be going to the Mac spring launch event tonight at my local mac store and I am so excited! I will try and get as many pictures as they let me take so I can show you all the new spring line before it officially hits stores!

Stay tuned for some product reviews and product raves. I have a bunch coming up!!
